Costa de Almeria may not have the most courses in Spain per square mile but it does have some of the best. The jewel in the crown has to be the Desert Springs course. This 18-hole course is an easy 15 to 20 minute drive from the resorts of Vera, Garrucha, Mojacar and Palomares. Designed by Peter McEvoy, it is the first desert course to be built in Europe. Professional golfers claim that Desert Springs is on a par with the famous courses in Arizona and California.
About 10 minutes from the capital Almeria is Alboran Golf. This championship 18-hole course is designed by Ramon Espinosa and is situated close to the beach. La Envia is slightly further away from the capital, being about a 20-minute drive to paradise. The 18-hole course is ideally situated in a picturesque valley.
