The southern end of the Costa Blanca is an old favourite with golfers as it is home to many excellent courses. Southern Costa Blanca is considered to be everywhere south of Alicante and as far as the border with Murcia. Golf Club El Plantio is just south of Alicante. There are two courses – a lovely 9-hole course and an 18-hole course. The latter was opened in 2000 and was designed by Manuel Ferry.
La Marquesa Golf is located at Rojalis and situated in the Urbanization Ciudad Quesada. The location of this 18-hole course is convenient for the coastal resort of Guardamar. The course has short holes, spacious fairways, and large greens and is therefore ideal for the intermediate level golfer.
At Algorfa you will find La Finca Golf - a fairly new course having opened in 2001. It was designed by Jose Gancedo and has a very scenic setting. The course was designed with professional tournaments in mind and thus is tough and demanding. It is anticipated that an additional 36 holes will be constructed.
Campoamar Golf is one of the most prestigious golf courses in the area. It was designed by Carmelo Gracias Caselles and is around 10km from Torrevieja. The 18-hole course is set among pine forests and features absolutely magnificent views to the coast.
Las Ramblas Golf is located about 4km from Cabo Roig and was designed by Jose Gancedo. With its hills, ravines, bushes, shrubs and rocky outcrops, it is perhaps the most difficult course imaginable. It can certainly be a battle – and most people lose. Try, try and try again should be the motto for Las Ramblas Golf.
Villamartin Golf is only about 3km from the coast and equidistant from Torrevieja and the border with Murcia. The 18-hole course was designed by Paul Putman and is one of the finest courses in the region.
Lo Romero Golf is located close to the coastal town of Pilar de la Horadada just on the border with Murcia. This 18-hole course was opened in 2008. This is a fantastic location with the course surrounded by orange and lemon tree plantations. The coast is only 5 minutes away and in the other direction is the town of Pinar de Campoverde which is set within one of the largest pine forests in the area. |
